Transport owners and workers remain in panic when BNP calls rally : Hasan, When the BNP calls for a march, the transport owners and employees continue to fear, according to Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud. ‘BNP burned buses and vehicles in 2013–14 and 2015. They destroyed trucks, buses, and other public property. The owners and employees of the transportation industry have therefore declared a strike. According to Dr. Hasan, the transport owners-workers organizations have BNP, Jatiya Party, Jasad, Basad, and Awami League leaders. “All associations representing transport owners and employees are here.” They make decisions for their own reasons,” Dr. Hasan said in response to journalists on Saturday while touring the historic polo field in Chattogram.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the public meeting which will be organized by AL at the polo ground on December 4 next as chief guest. The information minister hoped that, Inshallah millions of people will gather in the public meeting in Chattogram.  `As you know, BNP held a rally here a few days ago. One-third of the field was excluded and had a stage. Of the remaining two halves, half was empty. People were not as much as they demanded,’ the minister said.

He said that there is a community hall in the corner of the polo ground where variety shows used to be held earlier. In response to the questions of  journalists over  Mirza Fakhrul’s allegation that when the BNP calls a rally, the government is obstructing it in various ways, including a transport strike, the Information Minister said when BNP was in power, they attacked AL rally on August 21 with grenades.

No firecrackers were let off at the BNP rallies since the government was providing security and cooperation, he claimed. Among those present at the visit were Chattogram South District Awami League President Moslem Uddin Ahmed MP, Jilla Parisad Chairman ATM Payrul Islam, City Awami League President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, its General Secretary former Mayor AJM Nashir Uddin, North District Awami League President MA Salam, and South District Awami League Senior Vice President Upazila Chairman Motherul Islam.
