She continued, “It will be quicker and easier to transport and market the commodities, so it will be easier to help people in any emergency.” The prime minister requested everyone while engaging in a discussion with the beneficiaries, to use electricity and gas sparingly and to take steps to increase food production in order to prevent a severe economic impact from the global crisis brought on by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. The bridges created direct road access to the capital while removing 33 routes from ferry service, resulting in smoother, faster, easier, and safer road connections.

46 of the bridges are located in the Chattogram division, 17 in Sylhet, 14 in Barishal, 7 in Dhaka, 1 in Rajshahi, 6 in Mymensingh, and 3 in the Rangpur division. Obaidul Quader, the minister of roads and bridges, spoke during the event. While A B M Amin Ullah Nuri, the secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, presented a brief overview of the bridges, PM’s Principal Secretary Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus chaired the event. On this occasion, a video documentary on the bridges was screened.

According to Sheikh Hasina, her government is improving road connectivity so that the nation can be connected to the Trans-Asian Highway. The prime minister said that after coming to power in 1996, her administration built the Bangabandhu Bridge over the Jamuna River, the Rupsha Bridge in Khulna, the Pakshi Bridge, and the Ashuganj Bridge, ensuring uninterrupted traffic on the route.
