Govt working to nab smugglers who opened fire on law enforcers: Kamal,  The government is attempting to find the drug dealers who opened fire on law enforcement, killing an intelligence official at the Tumbru frontier in the Naikkhangchhari upazila of Bandarban, according to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. He made the comments in response to a question from journalists at an event held at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Training Complex in Mirpur here.

“Based on intelligence agency information, members of law enforcement agencies conducted an anti-narcotic drive at Tumbru frontier at Naikkhangchhari upazila, Bandarban on Monday when an intelligence official was shot dead,” he said.

We are attempting to learn more about how the official was shot and which drug dealer fired the first shot at him, the minister said. After looking into the situation, “we will let you (journalists) know the reality behind the occurrence,” Kamal stated. The gunfight, according to him, occurred at the Tumbru border crossing in Bandarban, a city that is home to thousands of Rohingyas.
