Joy hopes youths will move country forward with merit, patriotism
In response to concerns that many people had about how Bangladesh will go forward in the face of all these issues, he replied, “You (youths) are the prime models of how to solve issues. Problems never come to an end. We, the Awami League, have held office continuously for 14 years. How many issues did we encounter?”
“The first one was a power outage. How could the load-shedding issue be resolved? The economy follows. How are so many people going to eat? How will this country’s economy grow? We demonstrated that all of these issues were solvable “he declared.
Reflecting on the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, he said, “Then came Covid. Everyone was scared of it. Panic gripped everyone. Apprehension settled in the whole world. But, what did we see? In Bangladesh, we managed it in our own way and with our own plans. We have dealt with it in a smarter way than most countries in the world or even the richest countries did.”

“It fills my heart with joy seeing that you (youths) are making a robotic hub. It is brilliant. You are sending representatives to the UN to place demands on climate change. That is outstanding,” he added.
Praising everyone for working in unison, he said, “You are amazing! our country is an outstanding country. We ourselves fought and shed blood to liberate our country. We earned our capability to feed these 16 crore people. Within 10 to 15 years, we have enabled the transition of this country of 16 crore people from the lower to middle-income status.”
“These youths, these winners of Young Bangla – you are the future! You, youths, are the future of Bangladesh. You will drive the country forward. I believe that you will transform middle-income Bangladesh into a high-income one. We will have seen that in our lifetime.”
“With our diligence, we shall succeed. We will use our merit to solve our own difficulties. It is possible to achieve everything for our country and the people in it if we have self-assurance and patriotism, he continued. He said, “The only word I am left with to bring up my feeling is ‘amazing’.” He expressed the hope that young people will establish a better Bangladesh. The 600 participants, as well as the finalists and award winners, are all winners today.
“There is no doubt that the way you work for the nation and its people sets a good example for all of our citizens and the rest of the world. Young people like you are working independently with their own resources without asking anyone for assistance own merit and thoughts. You are not waiting for anyone. This is our spirit. This is our belief”, he said.
The sixth episode of Joy Bangla Youth Award commenced at 3 pm with the national anthem. A documentary on Young Bangla activities was displayed in the beginning. Around 600 youth-led organizations applied for the award. Among them, 28 were given the tickets for the final round. In the end, 10 organizations were awarded under five categories.
