BNP leaders should apologize before riding on Padma Bridge: Hasan, Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, stated today that BNP leaders who aggressively propagandized against the Padma Bridge would demand an apology from the Prime Minister and the country before riding on the bridge if they felt embarrassed.

“The Padma Bridge was built by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s administration for all. But Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other BNP leaders lack shame. If they were ashamed, they should have announced, “We are seeking an apology from the nation and the prime minister for spreading propaganda,” before crossing the bridge. They are using the bridge covertly because they are unscrupulous, he claimed.
Following his return from the COP-27 in Egypt, the minister made these comments to reporters in response to a question in the meeting room of his ministry at the Secretariat. Hasan remarked that because the price of gold is fixed, the standard of worth for everything is decided on the basis of the Padma Bridge and Hardinge Bridge expenditures. According to the accounts, the Padma Bridge costs one-fifth as much as the Hardinge Bridge, according to Hasan, who is also the joint general secretary of the Awami League.
In response to a different question regarding the BNP’s movement against the government, the minister stated that they have been stating for the past 14 years that they would overthrow the government and that they would not leave until they had done so (government). The truth, he said, is that they return home after every gathering because their compatriots are not there.
“Their (BNP’s) movements helped us, and our activists are growing stronger and getting ready to fight the evil forces,” he declared. If someone punches in the Awami League, the party’s members come together and become more motivated. And the gathering of millions of young people at the Jubo League rally was its manifestation.
Replying to another query over an allegation of BNP’s secretary general, the minister said BNP had made the country champions consecutively for five times. BNP had collected tolls from every business through ‘Hawa Bhaban’ when they were in power, he added. He said Mirza Fakhrul Islam has told that a national government will be formed under the leadership of Tarique Rahman after toppling the government. But the people of Bangladesh never accepted it, said hasan.
About his visit in COP-27, the minister said the developed nations have said that they gave 82 billion dollars in the international fund last year to tackle the impacts of the climate change.
The Paris Agreement on global climate finance clearly states that “In addition to present ODA (Overseas Development Assistance),” which means that the ODA provided by the developed nations will not be considered to be included in this fund, according to him. He claimed that this is a big secret deception. He stated that more money would be given to the Climate Fund.
“We do not agree with this,” said Hasan.
