UAE keen to scale up bilateral engagement with Bangladesh, The newly appointed United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi said his country is keen to scale up the bilateral engagements with Dhaka. He made the remark while called on Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen at the foreign ministry on Sunday, a foreign ministry press release said here.

The new envoy underlined the need to enhance cooperation with Bangladesh on trade and investment, air and shipping connection, agriculture, food security, floating-based solar energy, pharmaceuticals, IT, afforestation and alliance for mangrove forest. He also sought cooperation from the Bangladesh government for the operation of Abu Dhabi-based Wizz Air between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka/Chittagong as a low-cost airline.

The Ambassador also urged the foreign minister for support of Bangladesh during COP 28 to be held in Dubai in 2023. The envoy highly appreciated the development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The foreign minister mentioned that the relations between Bangladesh and the UAE are becoming stronger day by day.

He further stressed strengthening cooperation for food security, energy security and climate change issues between Bangladesh and the UAE. Momen deeply appreciated the UAE leadership for transforming the UAE as the role model for development and prosperity. He particularly thanked the UAE leadership for hosting the spectacular arrangement of Expo 2020 Dubai.
