Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, prominent Baloch writer and activist Mir Yar Baloch has declared Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan. Through a series of posts on social media platform X, he called for international support, including UN recognition and the establishment of a Baloch embassy in New Delhi.
In one of his posts, he stated:
“We have declared our independence and request India to allow the opening of Balochistan’s office and embassy in New Delhi.”
Call for International Support
Mir Yar Baloch urged the United Nations to recognise the independence of the “Democratic Republic of Balochistan” and called for a meeting of all UN members to discuss this recognition. He also called for substantial financial support for currency and passport printing for the nascent state.
“We call upon the United Nations to recognise the independence of the Democratic Republic of Balochistan and convene a meeting of all UN members to lend their support for this recognition.”
He further demanded the immediate withdrawal of Pakistani military forces from Balochistan, along with the removal of all non-Baloch security and administrative personnel:
“All non-Baloch personnel, including soldiers, frontier corps, police, military intelligence, ISI, and civil administrators, must leave Balochistan immediately.”

Demand for Peacekeeping Forces
In a direct appeal to the United Nations, he called for the deployment of peacekeeping forces to Balochistan and demanded that Pakistani military forces leave behind all weapons and property before vacating the territory:
“We urge the United Nations to immediately deploy peacekeeping missions in Balochistan and demand that Pakistan’s occupational forces leave all weapons, property, and territories behind as they vacate Balochistan.”
Interim Government Plans
Mir Yar Baloch also announced plans for an interim transitional government for the independent state, with a commitment to ensuring representation for Baloch women in the new cabinet.
“The control of Balochistan will soon be handed over to the new government of the independent Balochistan state, and a transitional interim government will be announced shortly. In keeping with our commitment to our nation, Baloch women will be represented in the cabinet.”
Challenge to Pakistan
In a bold message to Pakistan, Mir Yar Baloch declared:
“Hey Na-Pakistan, if you have an army, we Baloch have our army too. Baloch freedom fighters are on the offensive.”
Recent Clashes and Attacks
This declaration of independence comes in the wake of recent clashes between India and Pakistan. On 7th May, India conducted “Operation Sindoor” targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). In response, Pakistan escalated the conflict by launching drone, missile, and artillery attacks on Indian military and civilian targets.
In a swift counterattack, India shot down several Pakistani drones, missiles, fighter jets, and an Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft.
