President for avoiding indiscriminate use of painkillers, antibiotics

“Every year in Bangladesh many people especially the young working-class die from snake bites. Consequently, often result in acute kidney failure,” he said. Besides, unhealthy lifestyles, indiscriminate use of pain’killers and antibiotics, consumption of adulterated food and obesity are also key factors in increasing the incidence of kidney disease, he added.

Being a tropical country, sighting of venomous snakes and fatality from snake bite is very common in Bangladesh, said President Hamid. He put emphasis on regular health check-ups, and avoidance of unnecessary drugs to have a healthier life. “I am delighted to know that Kidney Foundation Hospital and Research Institute, Bangladesh is organizing the ’18th Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar on 26-27 November 2022 in collaboration with Royal London Hospital, UK as a Sister Renal Centre (SRC) program of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN),” he said.

He mentioned that the seminar’s theme for this year is acute kidney failure with a focus on snake bites. According to him, the occasion offers a special chance for participants from both home and abroad to exchange experiences and pick the brains of subject matter experts in order to develop fresh approaches to the treatment and avoidance of acute kidney failure. He hoped that by educating the attendees, the seminar would advance the treatment of kidney disease in Bangladesh.
