BNP’s anti-state character becomes evident: Quader

Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP is making clear its anti-state characteristic through its anti-AL activities.

Being desperate, BNP has been continuing its conspiracy to tarnish the country’s image abroad

– he said in a statement.

He said they expect that BNP would act as a responsible political party and shun working against the public interests. Otherwise, the people will throw BNP into the dustbin of history, he added. Quader, also a road transport and bridges minister, said the main responsibility of a democratic political party is to come forward in any crisis period to stand beside the people.

The irony is that BNP hatches conspiracy capitalizing on crisis instead of standing beside people in any disaster or crisis and it carries all-out efforts to worsen the situation by creating confusion among people, he said. When BNP’s strength on the street is reducing, the party leaders’ farcical comments on media are increasing, he said.

The minister said the bold and visionary leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in containing the coronavirus pandemic got global accolades. World forums including United Nations, Commonwealth, and World Health Organization lauded Bangladesh’s success in this field, he said.

According to Nikkei COVID-19 Recovery Index published by the Japanese Nikkei Media Group and London-based Financial Times, Bangladesh was ranked 5th among 121 countries and top in South Asia in recovering the Covid-19 pandemic, he mentioned.

Regarding anti-state character, Quader said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is repeatedly making childish comments that they would not join the national elections.

“We say repeatedly that elections will be held in due time in accordance with the country’s constitution,” he said. The minister said the people would not accept the changeover of state power to any undemocratic evil force or any conspiracy to halt the election process by giving conditions.

As BNP fears facing people because of its previous wrongdoings, they are daydreaming to form a puppet government for their foreign lords by violating the constitutional rules, he said. He said BNP couldn’t do any welfare-oriented activities but resorted to autocracy, corruption, looting, terrorism, militancy, and extreme communalism. Bangladesh was a safe haven from terrorism and militancy during the BNP regime, he said.

Under direct patronization of top BNP leadership, gruesome grenade attacks were carried out at an anti-terrorism rally of the Awami League on August 21, 2004, to eliminate the then main opposition party to remove all obstacles on their path to prolong their illegally occupied state power, he said. Whenever BNP came to power, people were repressed due to its fascist and aggressive characteristics, he said.
