“Currently, more than 10 million Ukrainians are without electricity,” he said, adding that the regions of Odessa, Vinnytsia, Sumy and Kyiv were most affected. “We are doing everything to normalise the supply,” Zelensky added.
Following military triumphs over Russia, Ukraine has seen attacks on its electrical grid, with the most recent being after Moscow withdrew from the southern city of Kherson. After officials in Kyiv issued a warning of “tough” days ahead, AFP journalists in various Ukrainian cities reported that the most recent strikes coincided with the first snowfall of the season. The extent of the damage to Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure has forced the government to impose power outages in order to relieve the grid.
