2 held with 1.11kg gold at HSIA. The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) today arrested two ‘persons with 1.111 kg of gold from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).The detainees are- Md Saddam Hossain, 33, and Nizam Khandaker, 29.

The market value of the seized gold is around Taka 1.10 crore, the APBn officials said.APBn Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ziaul Haque said a flight (EK-582) of Emirates Airlines landed at the HSIA around 12.20pm today and the arrestees were passengers of that flight.
Ziaul Haque said the APBn personnel noticed the duo while they were tampering the luggage trolley. Subsequently they detained them while they were crossing the green channel at the airport.
The police officer said while interrogating the detainees confessed about possessing the gold. About 420 grams of gold was recovered from the possession of Saddam and 691 grams from Nizam.Process of filing a case under the Special Powers Act is underway, Haque added.
